website launch

Isn't it great to be able to cross an item off of your To Do list? This was a biggy. I can now put a thick line through To Do Number 15 that reads 'Build a Website' and officially launch Agnes Coy Made by Hand ! Hoorah!

5 more

Just 5 sleeps more until my folks arrive from the UK. Excited would really be underestimating how I feel right now. I can't sit still, can't think straight and keep giggling out loud whilst walking down the street. I'm getting comments about the ridiculous grin on my face that reaches from one ear to the other. 'Annnnnd relax.' Nope, can't do that either!

One of the things we wanted to do before they arrived was to finish putting in our new kitchen and we've done it! Hoorah! For the past year we've been living with our fridge in the laundry as it wouldn't fit in the kitchen. We've also been living with blue worktops, cupboards and woodwork and green walls. Great for some, but not for us. Take a peek at a couple of before photos. Well, almost before photos. Mr TS started to rip out the old kitchen before I even thought to grab my camera.

Mmmmm, classy! Now for the 'after' shots.

I think that it's the perfect kitchen for our little wooden cottage. Mr. TS did most of the work including making the wooden bench tops. How amazing is he?!

My folks were here last February and they love a pot of tea in the morning and really missed not having a tea cosy to keep it warm. So, to commemorate their second visit, I've made one. It matches the new kitchen of course - well, what else did you expect?! I just allowed the appliqued fabric to fray and surprisingly, I don't mind it one little bit.

I ordered some wool felt from the US a few days ago and it arrived today. I LOVE the colours to pieces! I can't find wool felt anywhere here. There are 66 million sheep in this country and no wool felt!

Thank you for your smashing comments regarding the last post. Always appreciated as I hope you already know.

Until next time...

{Update: I've had a few emails and comments asking where I brought the felt. My supplier in the UK can no longer get hold of the colours I love so having spent several hours trawling the web, I eventually discovered Erica's.}

making me happy...

...this week is our local postie. Look at the treasures she safely delivered.

Happy_day1

Another super stylish Japanese Craft book. Can't wait to make a start of some of the beautiful projects.

Happy_day2

A box filled to the brim with notions and fabrics from the 1920's-40's.

Happy_day3

Look, look, LOOK! Don't they just make you swoon? Thank you Donna. You have flawless taste in fabrics.

Happy_day4jgp

A fabulous print entitled 'Meg' by the ultra talented Francesca. I wanted to send her a piece of my work and she suggested that we turn it into a swap. Lucky me!

Happy_day5jgp

My new business cards that I simply adore. I would show you the reverse but it has my website address on it that you know, isn't quite ready yet. Will it ever be I hear you ask?!

So, now you can understand why my post lady has brought a smile to my face this week.

Extra wide smiles appeared today as I enjoyed brunch with Mr TS. Mmmm, fruit platter with vanilla dipping yoghurt.

Happy_day7jgp

He also treated me to the most gorgeous necklace by the equally gorgeous Davina Ewing.

Check out her site for some inspiring creations.

Until next time...

responsibility

Things haven't quietened down one little bit since my last post. Still working on the kitchen, website (maybe a New Year opening is more achievable?),regular work...the list goes on and I won't bore you with it. I have however, been working on a bunch of embellished vintage ready for the site. Here's a sneaky peek. An over-sized corsage for a 60's sweater.

Last weekend was a first for Mr Tread Softly and I. Our niece (6) and nephew (3) came to stay with us for two nights without their parents! Now that, believe it or not, was a big deal for us, not having children ourselves and never having been responsible for them EVER! I don't mind admitting that we were a little bit scared. How do we put them to bed? What if they don't go? What do they eat? What do they do? We needn't of worried of course because we failed to remember that we do, in fact, have the most well behaved, fabulous niece and nephew in the world! Every now and again when no one was looking, Mr TS and I would huddle in corners with both thumbs up saying things like, 'we're doing really well!' {giggle giggle}

We spent time at the park whizzing down the wire on the Flying Fox

and best of all, helping to make a rag doll who we named Babushka

I picked the 1970's pattern up at a garage sale last week and thought to myself 'I know a little girl who would love to make that.' And make it, she did.

Remember the wool I brought to make more nests? Well, I made a handful of them. Some have already been given away but I thought that you might like one. I have two up for grabs, perhaps for your Christmas Tree? Shall we say that the first two people to leave a comment on this post gets a nest? Yes, let's say that.
